Neither. Not only 'better' and 'worse' are subjective adjectives, but also they are meaningless in a 4-dimensional Universe which already includes the past, the present and the future. Thus, no change is possible.

Worse

It is no different now than it was then. There are only better weapons and lawyers. Look at the Vikings... how vicious was that? Child abuse, rape, murder, all of that.... happened just as much then, it is just more publicized now. The only difference is that back then, there was no media. Actually, I think the media is to blame for a lot of crap.. they get people panicking, give them ideas, only speak half truths.. one sided.. it is not better or worse, it is the people telling the stories.. Like the things going on right now with Iraq.. go talk to some nam vets.. and their families, or WWII vets and families.. nobody cared about their emotional well being... from that aspect things are a little better. Think about the brutality in the days of 'cowboys and Indians', Hitler, Stalin, Julius Caeser and the list can go on and on.....Most people are kind, if you allow them to be. To this day, a friendly smile and a few kind words will get you everywhere.. always could and always will.........

If you judge getting better or worse by the amount of or lack of misery, suffering, crime and cruelty then the world is inevitably getting worse. But that is only because all of these things increase as a result of the increase in population. Overall, however, things are getting better because on a percentage basis as opposed to absolute the bad things in this world are less; we have better health care (although sometimes it may not seem like it) we have better technology, better opportunities and better prospects.

That is a tough question and pretty much baffles the mind if you think about it for too long. i'd say that the fact that the generations to come actually have to fear about an end of the world caused by man made problems (global warming, nuclear wars, etc...) would be a sign that the world is getting a little worse. It seems that at times our own destruction will become because of our progress in the world. scarey thought, huh?

Amazing how we always search for universal truths... better, worse, good, bad, black, white. Always focused without, but what about within? Instead of asking if the world is getting better or worse, ask yourself if I am making the world a better or worse place for those who follow me? For myself, I'm trying and I hope that you are as well.

Read a history book----war,disease,terrorism.....nothing new, it is all just history repeating itself....
I'm leaning toward worse though because as weapons and technology advance- so does the chance of mass destruction, global warming...etc. Also society is raising spoiled children that are numb to the world and issues around them........it is prgressivly getting worse from generation to generation......American children complain of being bored when we have xbox, psp..etc....when children in other parts of the world don't even eat.....Americas Cell phone bills for ONE year could cure world hunger but instead we choose to have this luxury.......Think about that! What is really important in this life?

I cant really say for sure, whether the worlds getting better or worse because I only live today, had I been born a million years ago I may able to say though I would probably say it gets good it gets bad, it gets good it gets bad and so on and so on. though ultimately it must always depend on your perspective because ones idea of the world is massively influenced by ones environment, you may see the world completely different to someone else.
