The US military uses web sites like this to hunt down and destroy the careers of our gay military, so even saying on here that we know someone might end up with Yahoo! being ordered to hand over logs that ultimately could be used to dismiss servicemen/women. Sad that our government is actually willing to use our resources this way.
In theory, don't ask don't tell means you can be gay if you don't talk about it - but the military have construed 'talking' to include inference, web profiles, and rumor.

yes...my friend looks as it like a job..he doesn't discuss ANY of his personal life with other military folks, and has to be very cautious about who he speaks with outside the military. He has just accepted the fact that he won't be in a relationship until he's out of the military. (out of respect to the other person) It's kinda sad...but the reality is that there is probably a much larger percentage of gays in the military than any one will ever know...i have great respect for these men and women as they choose to live a closeted life to defend our country...and unfortunately defend a government that doesn't realize what an asset gays can be.

Personally, I think ALL gay men should quit the military and use only homophobes like themselves...they would have to resort to a draft. Why any Gay would serve in a organization that doesn't want them is beyond me. I would die laughing at the ridiculous military establishment if they found they would have so many men walk out.!

it's not homophobic. There are guys who act really really gay, and they get teased, but that's what we do. We're like a family, and we all tease eachother. But everyone who has ever made fun of those who act gay, have always said at one point or another that they aren't homophobes... most of them really aren't, some are, but that's just life.
The military is just like any other job when we are at our home stations and not deployed.

I was in the USAF for 10 years - I am gay. I really had no problems what-so-ever and I was very open. I met my husband inthe USAF - he retired as a CMSgt after 30 years - he had no problems....I had several gay, lesbian and bisexual friends - some had a few problems but to be fair mostly the people with problems brought them on themselves.

Yes. I am a former USAF officer, and I have dated 2 active duty military personal. both of who are still serving and have served in IRAQ. I am proud to know them, and will not compromise thier position by revealing thier names.
The live thier lives in secret. They have to because of this enviroment. It is wrong and soon someone will realize that and change it.
