first, if the phone is expensive, always keep it out of reach.
if you want a brand new phone, i don't think you can find anything for less than $100. usually the cheapest phones are sold for $125 to $150 (depending which state i guess) but these are the phones which don't even have features at all other than making phone calls.

if you want a cheaper phone, find a used one on ebay, find one that has less features.

I was trying to upgrade my Cricket phone today. I wasn't happy with what they had in the mall and the person who supposedly owned the booth was clueless.
I just happened to remember that I knew someone that just opened some Cricket stores here local. I called him and he said would sell me whatever he currently had for 1/2 price on Wednesday. What do you need? How much is too much to pay?

Call them and ask them if you can use a Nokia 5160 or 5165. I have three of them, just replaced them with Razors V3. They don't have chips in them, nor camera, but work great; use older digital technology. I am on Cingular, but some of them will work for some areas?- You can have them all for $35.oo , including shipping.- Rich
