Some people say that a man needs to ejaculate often to improve the quality of sperm and some say he needs to hold it. Should we only have sex when ovulating or more often? What is the truth?

Every other day.

Less then 48 hours sperm levels haven't recovered yet. More than 5 days without ejaculating, quality starts to drop off. So anything from 2-5 days would be maximal quality.

Every 2 days will give a better chance of pregnancy than every 5. more than every 2 doesn't do much, since sperm can hang out for 2 days anyway.

The more they ejaculate the less sperm they have! But I will tell you a secret. I am 36 weeks and I tried everything that I read or someone told me. You only have a 25% chance during each one of your cycles to conceive a baby. Very little chance! It usually takes couples up to about a year to conceive. What worked for my husband and I was. To stop thinking about it!!! We had sex every night during ovulation. I had my legs up! Or sat on my head whatever i heard. It does not work. Finally the month I conceived we only had sex 2 times the entire month! Funny! But once we took the burden off the trying part the baby came.

Also hint during June July and August these are the worst months to get pregnant because the male sweats a lot down bellow and that lowers sperm count. She if your hubby gets hot a lot stop trying until the fall. Have fun have sex and if something happens it will happen.

If you are trying to get pregnant having sex during ovulation is good but only every two to three days before ovulation and during because the mans sperm can live up to 72 hours. Having "too much" sex can cause the sperm to be poor quality. But then again if you do it about every other day when ttc then I think that is just fine.

The medical truth is that having sex more than every three days does not allow a mans testes to replenish his sperm count, resulting in less chance of prenancy.

Also, having sex 36 hours after your ovulation hormone peek is enough to hit your best time of getting pregnant.

And, dont try hard to get pregnant, the stress on your body of wanting so much to be pregnant will only result in your ruining your ph and the sperm not surviving in your body long enough to reach the egg.

jsut calm down, find out when you're ovulating, and enjoy having sex.

you'll get pregnant easy enough.

I have always been told that it is healthier sperm and more potent if a man ejaculates fairly often. You can have sex whenever you want....however in order to get pregnant....you must be ovulating which occurs within two weeks after your period. You can also use the temperature method. I d say to have very regular sex often within the two weeks after you have your period...between the first and second week you should be bound to catch it at the right time.

If you are trying to conceive then you should use an ovulation predictor or basal thermometer and make sure to have intercourse when you are most fertile.

I believe it takes a while before the sperm count is at maximum again after intercourse, but probably not more than a day. You may want to ask your health professional.

Just remember it only takes one sperm to make a baby, and good luck.

I was afraid that I wasnt going to be able to conceive and asked a doc this very question. He said that having sex too frequently can drain the man of the sperm he'll need to conceive, while he will still ejaculate fluid, it will lack the sperm content. A man needs time to replace the sperm content. 24-48 hours.

At any given time a man has a finite number of mature sperm in his body. It can take 24-48 hours after ejaculation for the number of sperm to replenish. If you only have sex once a day it will increase the number of sperm per ejaculation and increase your chance of getting pregnant.

well, doctors have said if a man wears boxers, he has a higher sperm count.
it normally takes 24 to 48 hours for a man to fully recover from a previous ejaculation.
if you are trying to concieve, try 14 days after your cycle.

example:
your cycle starts on the 1st of each month, 14 days later is the 15th. your most fertile days would likely be the 14th, 15th, and 16th.

when i concieved my son, i wasn't sure about the days, so, we just made love every other day.

good luck
