He was voted out of the primary by Democrats, and thus far the only ones who support him are the Bush administration and Fox News (both of which are slightly right of crazy). He should just accept that he is Republican, and then everyone will be much happier.

And while I disagree almost completely with Republicans, there are quite a few intelligent, reasonable ones out there (just not in the Bush administration or Fox News). They are ultracrazy (and there are ultracrazy ones on the Democrat far left side too), and no one should listen to them, rather they should listen to the reasonable ones like Colin Powell and John McCain (and I guess Bill O'Reilly, who is only slightly crazy, not ultracrazy like the rest of Fox News).

I'm somewhat surprised at the answers; they are relatively reasonable, especially considering the unreasonableness of my additional details (I consider them true, but show no real proof; not exactly reasonable of me). You don't see that much on this site, especially in the politics field. Well done, everyone.

Can't Lieberman be a democrat just because he's not an ultra left extremist like most of them?
And, why is Fox so bad just because they don't toe the DNC's line of hate Bush, blame Bush for everything agenda?

Lieberman calls himself a Democrat for a few reasons:
1) He's a liar just like his allies in the Extremist Right Wing of the Republican Party.
2) It appeals to Democratic or Left-Leaning Independent voters that don't have all of the facts about Lieberman's questionable dealings and rhetoric. (Dealings refering to his consistent votes IN FAVOR of BOOsh policies)
3) He falsely claims (and chooses not to argue with the Right Wing statements) that he is the "only sane, moderate voice left in the Democratic Party".
4) He cares more about power than democracy. If he truly was a Democrat, then he would honor the primary decision and would bow out of the race.
5) He's in denial. Regarding the real reason that he was "ousted" in the primary. It wasn't because of his faith, nor was it because of him being "Pro-American". It was because he has - without regret - voted for, supported and refuses to acknowledge the mistake in supporting the Iraq War. That is in addition to many other "Pro-BOOsh Policy" votes (as I mentioned above).
To be honest, he would be this scandalous in the Republican Party as well if the situation was reversed. He cares not about service to a party or a constituency. His concern is in his ever growing ego, much like Hillary Clinton, McCain, and Bill Frist.

Do some research.
Lieberman recieved 48% of the vote in Connecticut in a Democratic primary. These are Democrats voting on who they want to represent them. So unless my mathmatics fail me close to 1/2 of the Blue state backs Lieberman, despite the fact that he supports the war and Bush.
He has already stated that he will run as an independent.
Also, I assume Lamont is going to give all of his money to charity since he is a millionare cable exec., I mean we could not have a Democrat that has gotten rich with big business, that could not be possible. Oh and I'm sure he paid extra on his taxes in protest to Bush cutting just his taxes.

Joe Lieberman has been a Democrat all of his life. It is odd that he is treated the way he was just because he was in favor of the war in Iraq - (so is Hilliary finished because her views of the war are similar to Joe's)
Look at Lieberman's voting record. The majority of his votes have followed the party (Democrat) line. He was the Vice Presidential nominee just 2 and 1/2 years ago. What happened in Connecticut may be isolated or it may backfire and hurt the Democrats in November

We are not accepting another Trojan horse Democrat - we already have McCain - the biggest Democrat other than Hillary.
Lieberman is definitely a Democrat & the primary winner is a lunatic - hope the Democrats can control him. Punishing Leiberman for agreeing with the President on the military could be costly for Democrats.

Because it is easier to get elected as a Democrat in Connecticut than a republican.
