She is 15 weeks old and sometimes she will nibble my arm or hand and I tell her to stop that. Dont know if she is being friendly or if this is aggressive behaviour. I have had her for 7 weeks now and she loves being cuddled and is very playful. But curious as to her nibbling.

I have Netherland Dwarf rabbits myself. This may be a cute thing now, but as she gets older, it can be a nuisance. I suggest telling her "no!" and GENTLY thumping her nose. Bunnys don't like to be thumped. :-)

This may be cute behavior now, but as she gets older, she may start biting you harder and she'lll still think its cute. Then she'll get in trouble for biting and she won't understand why. Just prevent it from becoming a problem!

this question is extremely person-friendly to respond to! Your rabbit has started puberty. i'm assuming you have not any further had her spayed? once a lady's hormones commence to flow, her style one priority in existence is to dig a hollow, make a nest, and commence breeding. She turns into territorial particularly frequently, now and again even aggressive and could make a multitude of a few thing she will be in a position to tear up or dig into. Of each and every of the rabbits i have been bitten with the aid of - and there have been particularly some - that is been the hormonal women who've particularly sunk their tooth in, and who've been the most elementary biters. i ought to point having her spayed now. The longer you go away it, the added any undesirable behaviours will be imprinted on her, and also you'll discover that your once sweet bunny will be a lot more durable to take care of. also, considering uterine cancers are very hardship-free (80% have it with the aid of the age of 5!!) in female rabbits which aren't any further bred frequently, or spayed, spaying is a good thanks to position off her existence and performance her healthful for existence. Addition: no, that is not any longer risky spaying her at 5 months. some vets are somewhat iffy about it, yet when she's showing warning signs of puberty, she's previous sufficient. 5 months appears about the age maximum women (except for the very tremendous breeds) commence puberty. the in hardship-free words reason your vet ought to hesitate must be if she become quite small. if that is the case, i ought to get her finished as on the breaking point of 6 months as accessible, to steer away from a number of the difficult behaviour than cat commence presently after that age.

We breed English Lop and Flemish Giants.

A doe about that age is just coming into their hormones and the nibbling is a behaviour that usually accompanies this. Having her fixed early will greatly eliminate this behaviour.

Yes I have a few bunnies of my own and my grandfather has a bunny farm… and they are not doing it to be mean… they do it because they are usually licking the salt off of your skin… they don’t usually get violet, you will notice that they will use their back feet if they are trying to be. If you are keeping it as an inside pet I would suggest getting the back feet declawed by a vet. It will prevent them from getting their claws stuck in the carpet which could cause him/her to rip their claw out which will lead to a lot of bleeding. I hope this little bit of information helps.

Thanks

britt

She likes the salt on your skin.
Do you have a slat wheel for her?
If not then get one.
You could always get some Bitter Apple (or other similar product that is also safe) to spray on you that they do not like the taste of and this will change her want to nibble you.
Good luck to you

nibbling and/or nipping are signs of dominating/ownership/possesiveness. you have to remind her you are the queen/king bunny in the household. i would continue to reinforce your command. it is possible she senses the sodium on your skin too; however, that would be expressed by licking not nibbling.

i can only tell you from my personal experience... the only affection i get from one of my buns is a few licks on my hand or sitting in my lap when she smells treats.

my male bunny used to do that (nibbling)... now he will just nudge my hand. he doesn't like to be petted often, in comparison to my female bunny (a dwarf mix). so i just respect his ways and just talk to him and watch his ears move about. he comes around and becomes affectionate when he sees me petting the other one.

She may be trying to groom you. It's a compliment. However if she nips you have to make a high pitched EEE noise. I know it sounds dumb but it's the same noise a rabbit makes in pain and it will keep her from hurting you in the future.

She is just showing affection. If it gets painful, tap her on the nose lightly.

She is just being friendly...if she was being agressive you would know it, she would lunge, grunt and even bite.
