Your baby is full term at 37 weeks. Should you go into pre-term labor before 30 weeks, you can ask if steroid shots would be something for you. They do mess up your sugars for 2 days though, as the 2 shots are given 24 hours apart. I got them for pre-term labor at 30 weeks, it just helps the baby's lungs not stick together from the substance inside them.
Just relax and things will be great.
GD can give you a bigger baby, right now my son is still measuring on target for his gestational age, I was diagnosed at 8 weeks with GD

Gestational diabetes does not effect the development of the baby's lungs. The only reason that your baby's lungs would be underdeveloped is if you gave birth prematurely before you reach 37 weeks.

The lungs are the last organ to fully develop. Babies born as early as 24 weeks have a chance of survival. But, every week makes the chance of survival greater. Hold on as long as you can.

It is safe for babies to be born after 36 weeks.
Talk to your OB doctor with your concern.
