Liberals not defending the President against foreign criticism has nothing to do with their cowardice or lack of patriotism. Anyone who truly cares about this country will skirt their loyalty to a political figurehead, if they see what such a political figure is doing is detrimental to their country. The truth is far more important to our security and welfare than our allegiance to a politician.

Liberals are not 'Spineless'. This is not a conservative or liberal issue... You are trying to make this an issue of 'Loyalty' or 'Patriotism'. George Bush HAD 100% of Americans behind him after 9/11 but after years of deceit and numerous lies he has lost the support of more than 70% of Americans. Only the 'Hard Line' conservatives that feel George Bush can do no wrong still support his administration and policies. It is a fundamental right of the citizens of the USA as well as peoples around the world to question the actions the the American President. This is a freedom that we as Americans stand for and try to impose around the world. It is the responsibility of George Bush to make an attempt to make things right or step aside and let someone else lead...

Having a spine is about standing up for what you believe in. I stand up and speak out about the current condition of our country and how we got here. If you think USA is on the right track then continue to support the current regime. You may want to move to Iran where people are jailed for speaking up against their leaders, because obviously you think everyone should think the same.

You have it wrong, the world is talking bad about USA, it is because of this regime's policies. Maybe people just think were dumb for re-electing a horrible president.

Questioning one's government and leaders, and honest dissent if you disagree, are among the MOST patriotic things you can do. It's what our entire system of government is based on. When I took my oath of office, I swore to defend the Constitution of the US, not a loyalty oath to any individuals or parties. That's what makes America great. Blind patriotism and submission to authority has never resulted in anything good anywhere.

Unfortunately you are wrong about standing behind the president.. We are to stand beside our country and her principles. And when any citizen is unhappy ..it is then our duty to dissent and keep "elected" officials in line.. remember we don't worship the president, he works for us.. and makes a whole lot of yours and my money doing it..I think we pay for the right to say just about anything we want..
