Let the free market decide, keep govmt out of it. With the price of steel going up there will be more demand for wood in construction.

The lumber companies should push harder for logging rights, that would improve their profit margins astronomically.

Look into selling your timber to a pension fund; quite a few of them are looking for investment opportunities in timber.
