Who can witness a signature in Ontario?

I need to file a court document in the US that needs a witness.

Just about anyone can be a witness. Choose someone with credentials though if you are concerned about this...someone like a lawyer, teacher or minister (they are the recommended people to write references when you want to apply for a passport)
