I wouldn't think so. Thinking back to my high school days, I think that a messenger bag would be good enough. I also had classmates who actually used messenger bags to carry their stuff at school, and it seemed to work for them. It really depends on how big your books are, how many books and notebooks you have, and how often you are able to go to your locker to switch books.

I'm using one this one, but I only have, like, six actual classes this year (seminary and marching band not counting as classes...grr...XP). The only classes I'm really taking are Symphonic Band, Honors Bio., English, AP Human Geo, Honors Alg., and World History. I'm only taking five at a time. Also, I'm participating in the school marching band.
My messenger bag is large. My mother says it reminds her of a diaper bag! XD

it really depends on if you have lockers or not, or if you have to carry around alot of textbooks or althletic equipment. We dont have lockers, so we dont have to carry books to and from school.. that makes a messanger bag perfect.

I'm going to use one this year... but mine is pretty big. Plus you can go to your locker before 1st pd to get all your morning books, then after lunch to get all your afternoon books... so it's all good lol
It's my 1st year of high school... what about you?
