Actually Zidane is French. He was born in Marseille, France.
And even if he was not french, He was playing to represent France.
His parents are Algerian.
I guess the French love him for the same reason the Americans love Michelle Kwan or any the other foreign born athletes who represent the US.

Please do some research before you ask questions such as this. Zidane was born in France, hence is a French citizen. His parents were Algerian immigrants.

Hello..
You are not thinking right.

Someone born in France, spent all of his youth and most of his adult life there. According to you, what does a person need to do more to be considered French?

For the same reason Houston loves Yao Ming. As long as the athlete brings attention to their country and has a successful career, he/she will be loved by the country they play in.
