How about, instead of 'waging war on terror' (since that is a war we can't win) we instead try and stop the recruitment process by educating, giving aid, showing these young men and women another 'career choice'. Do you think that might interfere with the recruitment? Or are you dead-set on war? Do you have another idea?

Your proposal is exactly how our forces are "fighting" terror in the Philippines. Quite successfully I may add.

When people realize that they aren't suffering so much, and that a certain superpower isn't sponsoring Dictatorship to get to their resources, then guess what; the terrorists lose their ability to recruit those people!!

A great Intellectual once said: "All wars are fought for money." As Christ once said: "The Love of Money (Greed) is the ROOT OF ALL EVIL." Evil begets evil, good begets good...see the connection?

making the people feel less oppressed , and giving them an oppertunity to do more then battle with others , would be a start in the right direction.
This after all nurture based rather than nature based conflict .
WE are realy programed to get along and work together with a leader arising from the group and not a self appointed dictator .
WE work harder when we are valued as people for our work and compensated in an appropriate manner .
TODAY we are all just a employee file and number , with little connection to the people we work with .
THIS makes it easy to make descisions based soley on whats in the file and not what's in the hearts and minds and ability's of the workers .
IF your supervisor hates you get out quick before he or she ruins your employee record with slanderous remarks that will impead your progress .
OH yeah i ramble a little .
IF we can get these people to work with each other and learn to see how we are all conected for better or worse we stand a chance .

I don't think buying them off is going to work.

And I don't have any good ideas as to what will work.

And I haven't heard any ideas that I think will work - at least not in the next decade or so.

I don't know if this is necessarily pessimistic but I think these gangsters are just going to be an unfortunate additional cost of doing business for the forseeable future.

We've tried being nice. We've tried 'sanctions'. We've tried diplomacy. We've tried ignoring them.

What did it get us? See this...... 1

To them its not a career choice, so there would be no educating them on different "career choices". They are extremists and will destroy lives no matter the cost.

How about, stop sacrifycing our soldires for people who hate us and don't appreciate us anyway. Remove them from there. Nuke them to the stone age, we've done it to Japan, we deopped not one but TWO nukes and enede the war pretty quick.

it really would seem like 'an eye for an eye'. these are new days and times. seems as if civil rights, civil liberties must be cast aside in the name of the greater society. it would seem like they attack us with a bomb, we nuke a country that houses/supports them. freeze funds, take over oil fields and just become the tyrannts they paint us to be. violence begets violence, but it's the only language they understand or respect.

I myself am partial to a rather conservative approach, isolationism.
However, this administration is not conservative and, unfortunately,as one neo-con put it"Terror is good for business".That's scary.
