Nicotine, on its own, is not extremely addictive. Not so much as to make it as hard to quit as most people find. The most difficult part of cigarette addiction is habbit and association. When someone smoke for years the hardest times when quitting are the (social drinking smokes) and the after meal smokes. The taste of booze triggers association and intensifies the nicotine cravings.
If you have been smoking while drinking for a few months... you're hooked. Just try not to smoke while drinking. It will then start creeping in your every day routine.
Your scenario is exactly how I got smoking... and is exactly why I have 3 failed attempts at quitting.

Just as any addiction it is purely personal. Why can some people enjoy a drink and do some people become alcoholics. It's a case of dependency upon something and will power. I used to smoke when I was a teen I had to quit because of health issues(I am allergic to nicotine and to various other substances in cigarettes) These days I am perfectly content to smoke the odd one when going out or enjoy a good cigar when opportunity arises. But I would not go back to dependency on cigarettes. Many of my friends are occasional smokers and I have yet to see one of them to become habitual smokers. So either you become dependant or you don't it's your choice

You are already addicted - but anyone can stop using will-power alone
Motivation is vital, generally speaking you won't stop unless you are seriously worried about the health risks, or when you develop a smoking-related condition
Smoking is a pleasurable drug, it modifies neurochemical pathways in the brain (psychoactive effect)
The combination of drinking and smoking is far more deleterious to health than the either individually
Throat cancer is particularly dreadful, stop before you become a potential victim

It depends how long you have been smoking like this. Not everyone becomes addicted, some people are within weeks, others never, others are like you at first and then increase gradually to 20 a day. Best to quite while your ahead, wish I had.

70% of people who smoke one cigarette will smoke for the rest of their lives. It is the most addictive substance on earth, and that includes Crack cocaine. So if you want to give up, get help. Its a waste of money, spoils your skin, makes your breath stink and feeds the capitalist system with enough to go to war.... Any more reasons? You should love yourself a little more.....

You already ARE addicted. Each cigarette gets you a little bit MORE addicted. The longer you wait to quit, the harder it will be. And one day, (if not already), you will come to your senses and realize that you DO want to quit.

As long as you dont crave them when sober your ok. Try not smoking while drinking one night. If you cant do it, you have a mild addiction.
