It depends on the course that you take. In England chiropody and podiatry are two types of course covered by NHS funding, which are linked to NHS bursaries.

If you can get a place on one of these courses you will not have to pay any tuition fees as the NHS will fund them (as long as you are a home fee student - i.e. have lived in the UK for three years preceding the start of your course (and not purely for full-time education) and have no time limits on your stay in the UK)

If this is the case they will also give you a bursary depending on whether you study at diploma level (non-means tested bursary) or degree level (means tested bursary and small loan for living costs).

Dunno about total cost, however I just applied for student loans. My little brother just graduated high school and he got a flyer in the mail from "My rich Uncle". I applied and they said I was approved. I thought I would make to much for federal loans, but I got one. I am 30 btw.
