If it cost $75 a barrel. 42 gallons in a barrel. It does not add up. You get about 20 gallons of gas from a barrel. The other products are sold as well. When oil was 30-40 dollars a barrel, we only paid $1 per gallon of gas

Oh good, another person who has no idea how business works. Do you really think there is no cost associated with turning raw crude into gas? How about the cost to ship the gas from the refiner to the gas station? How about federal, state and local gas taxes? And that's just some of the things that add cost from raw material (oil) to finished product (gas). I wish gas was $2 a gallon. Wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which one fills up quicker.

You make very good points, but you are not figuring in.(?)...refinery cost, shipping cost, environmental/regulation cost, employee's pay, insurance...etc....

While I would love to see gas back down to under $2 a gallon, I do not expect it.

Some financial experts are predicting, the cost of a barrel may go as high as $200, in the next year.

Wars and rumors of Wars.

I suggest we all do a bit more walking, taking the bus, car pooling...etc...to help cut our dependency on foreign oil.

Lets start drilling in ANWR, and the Gulf, build more refiners, look to alternative resources.

We must ALL...do our part.

You are forgetting state and federal taxes. And refinery costs. And distribution costs. etc.

Obviously, the price of gas is the price of gas. It fluctuates with the world market price per barrel of crude oil.

Whether I think it should cost 15¢ or $15 doesn't matter. The price is set based on what it costs to make and distribute it, plus some level of profit. Supply and demand makes it cost what it costs.

I think gas has gone up 50% in the past 4 years. This is BullShi*. Yes two dollars sounds reasonable.

You are overlooking increased cost of doing business and
increased profits paid to the oil execs for doing such a wonderfull job.
