Woo hoo! A party, awesome! Of course I have to give my two-cents on this one!
I'm glad you're thinking about venue, because location can sometimes make or break a party. For example, the beach would be a fun place plus you dont have to worry about entertainment....people can swim or sunbathe or whatever so you wont have to worry about the flow of the party. On the negative side though, a party at the beach might be a little 'spread out'. What I mean is, if the party is supposed to be a get to know everyone party, people might be wandering and doing different things all evening/night, which totally defeats the purpose of a get-to-know each other party! Plus, weather could potentially be an issue...
On the other hand, if you had the party at a house everyone might be more likely to interact and actually get to know the team (because they are in a smaller more compact area). The problem here though? If you dont have anything to do it might be boring or awkward. So if you do it at home I'd definitely have some games and activities planned out, especially ones that encourage bonding/getting to know each other/having fun. Remember, you dont HAVE to do the games, but if the party looks like its getitng dull you might want to have options ready.
In either case, music is a must! You could always have your team members each bring a favorite cd or two....that way you can get to know everyone's interests. Of course, a good radio station always works too.
You should definitely serve a variety of foods, because you dont want a guest's experience to be ruined because he/she was hungry and there was nothing good to eat. Its nice to start out with some snacks as people are arriving and beginning to mingle. A table set out with chips and sodas, cut vegetables and dip would be awesome and is sure to please everyone. As a "main course" you should do something that you think most people will like and will work for an indoor or outdoor setting. Hotdogs and hamburgers are great because most people like them. Plus you could include some salads (pasta, macaroni, potato). If anyone is vegetarian they have veggie burgers that arent too bad. Another idea would be to do pizza and wings. You can get a few pizza varieties so everyone will be pleased, and who doesnt like pizza??
I think an evening party sounds nice. You could start it around 5 or 6 and plan to eat at 6 or 7, giving everyone time to snack and mingle. Plus, if the party is a hit it might continue into the night anyway.
As a final note, I'm sure you could get or make a cake that has a soccer theme to it. After you've spent the evening eating, talking, and hanging out it would be nice to have a dessert celebrating soccer and the team. You can even write a message on the cake like "Here's to a great season" or something like that.
Anyway, whatever you do, be creative and have fun!

That's a really nice idea. Beach is tricky because of the swimming situation. Some parents may not allowed the kid to go without them. So the back yard can be fun. You can have a themed BBQ. maybe a mexican night. you can serve margaritas (virgins I am guessing you are not of drinking age) nachos, salsa, and you can even have a pinata.
have fun
ps don't forget the tunes, they are always needed at a party.

soccer players party? will you be getting messed up or just be chillin and up all night watchin movies and eating popcorn? If you're getting messed up, then anywhere is a good place provided no one has to drive far in order to get home. also if you're underage, stay away from parks or any other public place, unless you all want tickets. best bet is to have the party somewhere that has couches/beds and a refridgerator and two bathrooms. if its a dry party (no booze) then you are on your own.

well the beach sounds so fun! A lot of hot guys there! but the house is where everything is and when you need it, it's right there.
To serve? Well how about some water, coke, chips and dipping sauce such as... salsa and/or avacodo dipping sauce!

You should have a slumber party with lots of cabbage patch dolls and do spin the bottle. You should serve pizza(who doesn't like pizza?). You should also have scary stories and video games.
