My 6 month baby has been teething for the last few months. Nothing yet but I believe he is working on it. Can they get a 101 temp from this or could it be something like an ear infection? What are some signs?

See if your baby is pulling on his ear. If he shows signs of discomfort in the ear, then it may very well be an issue w/the ear canal. Consult your PEDIATRICIAN. Now, as far as the temp, yes. Teething can have that side effect. Although there are new studies that tell you that this is not true, they're unable to completely rule it out. If a temperature does arise, make sure it doesn't go higher than 104..... at that point it could be dangerous, it can lead to a state of delirium.
Keep your baby cool with a cool bath. You may consider jumping in there w/him so you can hold him and it's not so shocking. Stay close to your baby as much as possible during this time. Babies do much better going through their physical changes as well as any illnesses w/the presence of their mother.... what a doctor won't tell you.
God bless you and your prescious!

A 101 F temp. is too high to be caused by teething alone. A lot of times when an infant is teething they may get ear infections. Give your baby the recommended dose of Motrin and see your pediatrician.

Good luck.

Teething absolutely can cause that fever. If the baby is not really acting ill otherwise that is probably it. If he has an ear infection he will likely be pulling or scratching at the ear that hurts and will cry louder when laying down because the pressure from the different position makes it hurt worse.

Give him some ibuprophin or motrin for the fever and see if that helps. If he will take it, you can offer a cold wash cloth for him to suck on to help with the discomfort of teething.

Well wishes for the baby.

A sign of an ear infection is pulling on their ears and a temp. Teething causes temps and of course fussiness. Give the baby tylenol for the temp and baby orejel for the teething!

it sure can just give him some tylenol and also if hes teething i would take him if he starts to pull on his ear or cries alot. the teething effects the ear, nose and throat. with all the teething, slobbering, and when feeding he can get an ear infection which is common so yes take him to have that checked too. usually itll take awhile for a infection to show but its best to catch it before it ruptures. also dont cover him up too much maybe just a baby tanktop and shorts or no shorts. too much heat and that causes a high fever. i usually carry a bottle of pedialite and some jello snacks and a cool damp washclothe along w/ diapers and wipes.

I don't think so, usually a low grade fever, but not 101. Usually a temp that high I would say ear infection or some other type of infection

Yes, anything up to 102 dont freak out about. If it goes on too long, does not come down with tylenol then call your doc. Pay more attention to your baby's behavior than the number. Babies can handle higher temps than we can. If he is fussy, tugging on his ear, lethargic etc. Go to doc. If he has a high fever and is playing happily dont stress. But as always if it will put your mind at rest, call your doctor.

Yes babies can run a temp from almost anything. If his nose isn't running and he is not pulling on his ears, I would guess that it is from teething. Give him some baby tylenol and something cool to put on his gums to ease the pain.

They may tell you no, but my daughter just had this over the weekend with a slight runny nose for 1 day with 101 and she was fine the next day, just back to chewing on everything in sight-good thing you are having it checked though. I hope he is OK!

Ask your doctor. Some will tell you that teething can cause a mild fever, but I would get any fever checked over just to be safe.
