I know our governments are different in economy and oil dependency, but do you think this might work for the USA?

We've had flex fuel vehicles here for a while. Not sure how many or what models, but there have been vehicles that run on gasoline or natural gas for at least a decade now.

It might work, if the government would be willing to offer a rebate for people willing to convert. However given the well documented oil lust of the current administration, i don't think they would ever approve the rebate. Go idea though.

As long as we have men in control of our government that have ties to big oil companies, this would never happen in the US. I'd be willing to give it a shot. I guess it is worth a try...especially if it works.

Anything to take the money away from the oil companies and the government. It will never fly here, people are too apathetic and lazy to make changes.

If the gov't made an offer like this in the U.S. I'd consider it. It would depend on whether they are as generous as the Aussies. Remember, their $2,000 is different than ours. Right now that would be $2,612 in U.S. currency.
Have a great day.

I would walk, ride a bus, car pool..whatever to reduce our dependency on foreign oil. ( I rode the city bus..this am)

Anytime you are dependent on anyone for anything...they have a certain amount of "control" over you.

Being sooo dependent on foreign oil...is terrible for our foregin policy...and our wallets.

Good article...excellent question.

Couldn't hurt to try. I would be willing. Now you just have to convince the rest of America.
