Yes, smiles are quite easily spread to others.
Consider this: I work in a public school as support staff. A couple years ago, the teachers' union was undergoing a not-so-pleasant negotiation for a contract. My union is different, so it didn't affect my job.

Whenever I saw a teacher, administrator, or fellow support staff member, especially when I could tell they were upset, stressed, etc., I smiled at them. By lunch that day, the entire staff was walking around, smiling at each other. Many people commented to me later that my smiling at them helped remind them that the world's a good place, and the stress wouldn't last forever.

So, yeah, smiling can be shared, spread, and will then take over the world!

I think smiles are rather contagious -a genuine smile always gets back a smile. Smiling is a beautiful thing in life.

If someone smiles, I do respond and smile back. If someone frowns, I smile at them anyways. My smile is contagious because it comes straight from the heart.
I have "feeling" in my smile and it is genuine! Plus I think people know this because I also make eye contact and it kind of catches people off guard.

Yes, smiles ARE contagious! One can certainly be influenced by a warm friendly smile. It is a natural human instinct to reply with a smile, as smiling is a basic form of communication.

I always smile when someone smiles at me, and usually people smile at me when I smile at them. But there have been some people who don't smile back.

I don't think that I've ever written smile that many times before!

Yes, a smile is a gesture of friendliness and cheerfulness. Every human being has that longing inside of them to be liked by others. And if somebody extends a kind gesture towards them, it is often the case that they reciprocate - without even thinking about it.

A smile an really make someone's day, it can brighten them up if they are down. It can cheer them up, it can bring life to a lifeless situation. It is an expression of love, and everybody wants to be loved.

Both! I'm a firm believer in smiling at people as I pass them on the street... even if I'm not in a fabulous mood. The moment I get a smile in return I start to feel better and hopefully I'm giving someone else's mood a boost too.

It's like the song; when you're smiling, the whole world smiles with you.
