No, you typically ovulate around that time so conception might be taking place around that time, but you cannot get a positive pregnancy test until the fertilized egg implants in the uterine wall and starts releasing pregnancy hormones. This doesn't happen until several days after conception. The most sensitive HPTs say you can get a positive as early as 5 days before your first missed period, but more likely your first sign that you're pregnant would be a missed period.

This is usually difficult to do. A girl's ovulation would usually be around this time and it would take a few days for the beta-HCG pregnancy hormone to rise to detectable levels.

If you were to take a pregnancy test and it was negative at this stage, you might be disinclined to believe it. You should probably wait a week and then repeat it. If you WERE pregnant, then the HCG levels would have risen in that time to be reasonably detectable.

It IS, however, sometimes possible to tell - particularly if the girl's ovulation happened a little earlier and there is a well established pregnancy making plenty of HCG.

I believe most women ovulate and become pregnant approx. 18 days after the first day of their last pd. Most preg. tests don't dectect the preg. hormone so soon, but I'm pretty sure I've heard about one that can detect it 5 days or so before the next pd. is due. I'm curious as well.... the anticipation...
