Hello. I have eyeglasses but can not wear them as I am always hot in the face and have tried every anti fog stuff out there to no avail. So recently I have gotten contact lenses but am not able to get them in. I have tried many different ways and all it does is irritates my eyes and its been about a week eince I had them in because I can not do it and it is very aggrevating. I need someones tips or advise or whatever who has the same troubles or someone who knows about eyes and such with any other ways of going about correcting my vision. Is there any other contacts that might be easier or something? I dont know, all I know is I had it with these damn contacts and since not wearing them I can tell my vision has become worse and am afraid of going blinde possibly.

I can definitely sympathize. I am 23 and my vision is around -11.00 (which is terrible, contacts only go to -10.00, and they'll only do lasik for up to -6.50 I believe my doctor said) it's gotten progressively worse since kindergarten. I do wear contacts (-10.00), and I thought there was no way when I first started trying. They were impossible to put in, and were miserable!

Stick with it, you'll get past the misery and soon won't even be able to tell they're in. When I first started wearing them (around 7th grade) the doctor gave me a schedule -- only wear them for a couple hours the first day, and then progressively increase the time. Soft contacts are a must for a first timer -- and I think they're all about the same in terms of comfort.

When putting them in, try to stay calm -- don't be in any rush. I remember getting very flustered! Wash your hands. Set the contact on your right index finger (make sure it's not inside out-- the edges should be straight up under close inspection -- not flattened out sometimes you can also tell by the tiny print on it), use your middle, ring and little fingers to gently pull down on the bottom of your eye, use your left hand to pull up. Gently press the contact onto your eye -- if you press too hard it won't stay. Have eye drops (for contact lenses) ready to put on. It will take practice.

It can be very frustrating trying to learn. The best thing to do is just keep trying - once you get the hang of it you will wonder what was ever so hard about it. Call your doctor's office and ask to come in again to have another session. They can watch and give you tips on what you might be doing to hinder your success. Also, check out www.bauschandlomb.com they have some good tips and information. Good luck and don't give up!
