I'm amazed at the poor quality of many of these answers, especially those that come from people who have actually lived in Denver. I was born in the Denver metro area and have lived there most of my life.

- "Hot" is a poor way to describe Denver's climate. Denver is a good example of a semiarid climate. Winters can range from very cold (below zero on occasion) to pleasant (it's not unusual to have 60 degree days in the heart of winter). It does snow sometimes, and the snowfall is sometimes significant. Springs can be rainy, but it depends greatly on whether or not it's a drought year. Summers are generally characterized by clear mornings, afternoon thunderstorms, and daytime highs around 90. Fall can be hot or cold, sunny or snowy, and it varies a lot year to year.

- Denver does have a hockey team. The Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001. Denver is a great place for sports. In no particular order, the professional sports teams in Denver are: Denver Nuggets (basketball), Colorado Rockies (baseball), Colorado Avalanche (hockey), Denver Broncos (football). We also have soccer and lacrosse teams.

- The traffic is comparable to any other city its size.

- Economy: the Denver economy is traditionally based on mining and its central geographic location, but in more recent years, it's also fueled by technology.

- Recreation: aside from sports, bars, shopping, and all of the other typical urban recreational activities, the Rocky Mountains are a significant source for recreation. Skiing, rafting, kayaking, boating, waterskiing, hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and just about anything else you can think of is available in the mountains west of Denver.

- Geography: Denver is located on the plains east of the Rocky Mountains. The Colorado Rocky Mountains form a north-south line down the west-central part of the state, with agricultural land to either side. Most of Colorado's population is centered along I-25, the north-south highway that runs parallel to the Rockies just east of them.

- Demographics: it's plain false to say that most people in Denver are Hispanic. The city of Denver is 51.9% white.

- Crime: Like any other city, Denver has crime, though I think it would be foolish to say it's isolated to the "infamous west side" (which I'd never heard of before). See the homicide map link below.

I hope this helps.

Denver Is allright. You can see the Rocky mountains to your west, so the view isn't bad. The city itself isnt that big though. The main shopping there is downtown at a place called the 16th St. mall. It's basically a whole street that has all sorts of stores, theatres, bars, hotels, and little vendor booths down the middle of the street. Theres even a free mall ride bus that will cart you anywhere on that street pretty quickly. Denver also has a light-rail system which makes pretty much the whole city easily acccesable. There are dangerous parts of Denver I wouldn't suggest you go to. Such as the Infamous West side. It's a ghetto filled with drug dealers and gangsters and shootings there are frequent. But most of the people in Denver, at least in the nicer areas are pretty cool. The population of Denver is mostly comprised of people of Latino decent, but there are people of all races there.

I think Denver is great. Exspecially downtown Denver it's like a minutare New York City. There's lots of things to do in Denver. There's the mint. Six flags, the aquarium, there's also water world during the summer(the seventh world ranked water park).
There's also the denver zoo which is huge and tons of malls and places to shop and eat.

Denver is one of the greatest places on earth.......300 days of sunshine, and an outdoor enthusiast's dream. River rafting, hiking, skiing, etc etc etc. The people are great, the views spectacular......If you are in denver and have the time, hit the road and head for Moab Utah (also an adventurer's dream). It's an amazing place to hike and bike. Small town, but worth seeing.

1)crowded
2)foul air
3)horrible traffic
4)has the added bonus of a higher elevation which can take some folks a little time to get used to.

Great city.
Mile high, with sweeping purple and snowy mountains in the west.
Close skiiing -but most snow falls in the mountains, not in Denver.
Lite rail is being extended to provide more train commuter access.
Huge airport (DIA), very nice, but a little off in the boondocks.
Lots of art, sports, events, close to downtown.

Alot to do in Denver. Museums, Football Stadium, Resturants, Thearter, parks. Nice city...But I wouldn't want to live there. Too much city life. It would be better to live in the country.
