Hi, firstly, welcome to Malaysia,
i think you mean Johor since it is in the south of Malaysia near Singapore.
Malaysia is a relatively cheap place to stay in when it comes to lodging and food (in comparison to our neighbour Singapore).
Public (government aided schools) are "free" for the year, minimum fees are for maybe the library or sports equipment, just a couple of RM.
There are always private schools too, these are quite expensive and are calculated by the school terms, it may range from maybe a few hundred RM to a couple of Thousand, depends on which school.
Malaysian Public school have recently changed the Language of few major subjects like Maths and Science subjects to English.
About our local language, officially, Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language) is quite easy to learn as it is pronounce per syllable and it uses some foreign language like English too. Apart from Malay, there is a lot of other languages being used here due to the the fact we are multi cultural and definitely you will be right at home here.

Welcome to Malaysia.
Well Education in Malaysia is FREE up to secondary level. But you must gained a PR status then only can enjoy this priviledge. If not, you must enrol your children into private school where would be cost more and more. Here is a guildline for your household income----

1) Household Expenses = RM2000
2) Car Loan = RM900
3) Children Expenses = RM600 (RM150 x 4 childs)
4) House Loan = RM800
5) Insurance = RM300
6) Petrol = RM300
7) Service and Maintainance = RM400
8) Saving = *Your income balance

Item 1 to 7 already costed RM5300

Hi there. The expenses varies from places. Here, i assume if you are going to be in KL, the the minimum income that you need is around Rm3000 monthly. Schooling fees in Malaysia is free, but if you send to a private school, once again it may vary.

it's not very expensive nor cheap, though........around rm3000 a month if u're careful with your money....lol.....if u wanna go to the national school, it's free of charge except for the books......but i think foreigners have to pay some money, not much either........but english schools are extremely expensive but good....the language is easy because some words came from the english syllabus.....lol.....nowadays, jobs are rare unless u start your own little business....don't worry, u'll do fine, good luck!!!

Food expenses are fairly cheap... Dinner for a family in a 'mamak' stall could be as little as RM30 or in a restaurant
Rental varies greatly.. Decent condos can be as little as RM800 (15 minutes from KL centre) per month but can go as high as RM10000 per month for the centre of KL..

1USD = RM3.6 roughly...
