This could be caused by several things...here are a few:

1. Plugged fuel filter.*check this first*
2. Failing fuel pump.
3. Fouled/dirty fuel injectors
4. Possible distributor/cap/rotor issues
5. Timing issues (timing gear/chain,etc)
6. Water or foreign material in gasoline, in conjunction with numbers 1,2,3 above.

(Note: If you suspect some kids, etc. may have dumped something into the tank, then don't continue trying to start it...take it to a mechanic or dealer so the can pull the tank and clean it, and the fuel delivery system. Otherwise you could mess up something else.)

These are some places to start... you may want to take the vehicle to a good mechanic or the dealer to have it analyzed.

Hope this helped.

I would first install a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure.
