No, when you plug it in the USB port, the MP3 player switches to file transfer mode and does not allow the player part to access the music files for playing music.

No, You can not listen to it in this fashion. Now however you SHOULD be able to access the music that is on the MP3 player with Windows media player or another music player to play the music on the computer. The software on the computer will just use the MP3 player as another drive at that point.

No you can't.. when you plug the MP3 player into the usb it looks to open up the software the accompanies it, it will open up this program and play the music in it for you, or it will charge the device. If you don't have the correct software installed it will just sit idle in your usb till you do something with it.

i don't think so. i guess it depends on the model on the mp3 player. usually if you mp3 player has a usb connection and you connect it with the usb port. it will start charging and transfer files. i doubt it will allow you to listen to music.

which mp3 player is it? if it supports it yes. you would probably have to use some sort of proprietory software that came on a cd with the mp3 player, or can be downloaded from the home page of the manufacturer. my mp3 player lets me listen to the music on the player one song at a time. it doesn't allow me to select all and play or use it in winamp or anything. i have a creative btw.
