he just did it. He was just sitting in his fav. corner of his cage (he sleeps there too) and just squeaked. Is there something wrong?

Chinchillas will call out when they are afraid (If a stranger comes in and startles them, they hear an unexpected loud noise, there is a new smell in the house, a new pet, ect...), lonely (I have one that will call out to me if he sees me walk by the door and he wants some attention), or are in a new place and wondering if their are any other chinchillas around. Its nothing to worry about. As you get to know your chinchilla you will be able to recognize his sounds.

He's just saying "Hi!"

Or maybe "Feed me" or "I'm thirsty" but if everything else seems okay, it was "Hi."

He is telling you that he is hungry...I think.
