I found this interesting video on google about slavery. Who would of thought that it is more prevelant today than at any time in history. What is the reason?

The reason is that humanity hasn't grown up yet. "Be yourself and be strong" is a good message, but that doesn't stop the guy next to you from beating you into submission. What needs to be done is the guy next to you needs to be prevented from beating you into submission.
I don't agree w/the comment that we could end slavery tomorrow. The UN couldn't enforce someone to drink a glass of water, let alone enforce countries to force an end to slavery. The video said it plainly. Slavery is easier, cheaper and swifter and the kind of people who would do such disgusting things to another human being are the kind who are only concerned with those things. To them, money is the power.
Solutions like in the video, making companies that are making note of the fact that they offer fair wages (even if it means paying a few dollars more) are the right way. They're small attacks at the problem, but over time they will have the longer-lasting effect, because they will hit the problem where it hurts: the bank accounts.
More people in those countries being economically independant (even if that just means having enough food to grow themselves so that a 'better job' isn't required) means fewer would need to leave, and more people buying from honest-wage companies would mean less money and more problems for those would endorse slavery.
Show the market where you want your profits to go, and they'll go there. If these people saw more profit in not owning slaves, they'd stop immediately. It's all about the bottom line in their bank books.
Money flow and money influence works both ways. The solutions in the video area good example of that.
Those people who are doing something about it are waking up and taking charge of themselves. We just have to do the same.
