I was in a tourney this weekend, it was the bottom of the last inning, my team was tied, we were up to bat, with bases loaded. The batter hit a base hit into left, the runner on 3rd scored and we won. About 60 seconds later a fielder ran back out and grabbed the ball from the out field, through it to 2nd, they touched the bag and the ump ruled the runner was out because never touched 2nd and you can't score on a force out 3rd out.

I don't debate the actual call, but the umpire yelled "Ballgame" right after the runner scored. Doesn't that basically rendering everything else insignificant?

You'd think, but if there was a "protest", they could have had a discussion about it. From the sound of it, though, the other team was off the field already. If they came from the dugout and then tagged the base, no, the call was wrong. If all players left the field, the umpire called "ballgame", I'd say that the game is over and without a protest, the out didn't count.

Dude, I play for a co-ed team, and sometimes the other teams get way too competitive and whine to the umpire and argue over everything.

I agree that after he yelled ballgame, the game should have been over.

what rules are you using? asa? nsa?

a few circumstances for the play to be over:
1. pitcher throws a pitch (either legal or illegal)
2. entire infield leaves the field of play

i think you have to protest that call - if the umpire calls ballgame, and the fielders have all left the area of play, the game is over, period.

Once the umpire calls the ballgame, then the ball is dead and the force play can not be maid. He should not have called the ballgame.

since its a game winning hit, as soon as the player crosses the plate, the game is over...no matter what the ump says

In my co-ed rec league this previous summer, my crew become "One Hit Wonders", and we received the championship. different communities were "Scared Hitless" and "i ought to Hit That". heavily in spite of the undeniable fact that, i ought to point doing a Google seek for for "events communities names" or perhaps "events emblems". there are a tremendous variety of cool and under no circumstances-so-dorky names for minor league communities, quite in baseball. you'll also fins a funky emblem too. - R.
