I have a prince o3 red and had bought it in April. I had gotten it strung with Prince synthetic gut 16. I wanted to know wether I should get it restrung or would you only string the racquet once the string breaks? If I should get it restung then what would be a good string for it.

I think a good rule of thumb is to have your racquet strung as many times a year as days of the week you play (is that confusing?). In other words, if you play three days a week and you don't break a string, you should have your racquet strung 3 times a year or about every 4 months just to keep the tension reasonably consistent. (I can always tell when my strings are needing replacement, because I start to lose ball control.) As far as what you string your racquet with, it is personal preference. I don't know your background (years played), ability level, etc., so it would be difficult to recommend a particular string. (Your local club pro should be able to do that.) However, if you find yourself breaking strings frequently, you might change over to a Kevlar main and synthetic cross combination. That will give you more durability without hindering playability to any extent. Hope that helps!

The rule of thumb is that if you average playing 5 days a week you should have your racquet stung 5 times a year . 3 times a week 3 times a year. That goes out the window however if you are playing a lot as you seem to be playing a lot. If you feel like the tension is dropping and you should be able to tell , cut them out, starting in the middle . Do two cross strings up and then to down . keep going like that until all the mains are all cut , this way the tension is not pulling on one area of the frame more then another. Do the Mains the same way.

It all depends on how serious about tennis you are. One hour a week isn't very much but it is better than nothing. It all depends. I would play so much more but it's all ways raining. I play about 3-4 hours a week in the summer. When it's tennis season I play 7-8 hours a week.

It depends on why are you playing in the first place..to be a prefessional or just to have fun/exercise.

If former, the restring it every time you play and if later, restring it once a year or when it breaks!

The rule is the number of times you play in a week is the number of times you should string per year.

you need to get it restrung when you notice its losing tension

i get my racket restrung ever year when i'm playing a lot.

there are different strings for different purposes...it depends on how you play. you obviously need strings to suit the tension you need, but there's also special strings for if you play with a lot of topspin...all you have to do is read teh packages.

good luck! (and good job on picking the best sport ever)
