depends on the type of marker really...was it a sharpie? or a "stinky" marker? if it was you will need an oil based primer such as "kilz" or dutchboy, then paint over the primer, if you go to home depot they can match the paint color from a small chip, so you wont have to repaint the whole wall... just the affected area. If it was a water based marker, scrubbing it off with soft scrub or other cleanser then painting over should do the trick. Wd-40 works for crayons & grease pens but not so well for markers.

Try rubbing alcohol, hairspray or nail-polish remover. At the very least you can get rid of some of the marker and just paint over it. If it's not painted, you might have to re-plaster.

Alcohol dissolves most permanent markers.

Water
Comet
Toothbrush
Paper Towel
Rag

Wet the toothbrush in the water, place some Comet on the paper towel, dip the wet toothbrush in the Comet on the paper towel. Then scub the area with the toothbush. Wipe area with moistened rag to clean off the Comet. Continue until all the area has been cleaned.

If this doesn't work you'll have to resort to painting the area.

I believe you will find that marker pen never dries fully, therefore painting over it will not work as it eventually bleeds back thru, try putting a piece of blotting paper on it then iron with a hot iron. This should soak it all off the wall and onto the paper

You probably won't get this off.Is the wall painted? I'm assuming yes.If it is painted white, you can use a scotch-brite pad and some comet and wet the pad, then lighlty buff untill the stain is gone. You may also have to use kilz to cover the stain
