dont know where he is and i am not sure if he knows where i am. is it possible that he got divorce without me knowing? it has been 3 years since i had contact with him. should i file.?

You should file. You can claim abandonment. If there are any marital assets left, you can get them.

Depending on which county he would have filed for divorce, you can normally go to your local county courthouse and request to see the decree, if it's not there, I suggest filing, good luck!

Call the courthouse where you were married and see if he filed there , if they can't help file yourself, you have to live in a state 6 months to have jurisdiction there to be able to file...

Check your happiness level, if you're so very happy then you must be divorced.
