OK I know this is a dumb question but I want to know and I'm too lazy to look it up myself so can someone please explain to me the difference between and MP3 player and an iPod. Thanks

The only difference is the name...
iPod is the brand name for Apple's mp3 player.
(And it's not a 'dumb' question...! I wouldn't have known, if not for my 'techie' bf!!)

There are a LOT of better---less expensive!--- mp3's out there than the ipod.
If you're looking to buy one, I'd suggest doing some research rather than just going with a popular brand name.
(Or, just e-mail us w/ ?'s; we'll answer as best we can. LOL!)

Almost all ipods have a little hard drive of 4 Gb or more. MP3 players
sometimes have a hard dive, but most of the inexpensive ones have what is called Flash memory or Flash RAM. The size of these vary from 128 Mb which means you could only fit 25 songs on it, up to 2Gb which could fit 400 songs. MP3 players with hard dives have the same or greater song capacity as ipods and are generally cheaper.

An IPod is an MP3 player but not all MP3 players are IPods.

The ipod is a brand name and has some features regular MP3 players do not (such as pictures and videos) if you get the right model.

Ipod is made by Apple. Ipod has thousands of accessories. I think that's it. If your just talking about the regular Ipod. MP3 Players are wayyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper than Ipods.

an ipod is an mp3 player, but it just has a different name. mp3's are the genaric name for that type of device, and since apple created the "ipod" they have trademarked that name so no one else can use it.
