Call the place you were supposed to interview at, faking that you are a highway patrol public relations officer. Tell them an officer found a note in the victims car with this information on it.
Tell them that there was a horrific firey accident, and that you were killed in the accident, so you won't be able to make the interview.
Finish the conversation by telling them that since there is an opening, and one of the applicants can't make the interview, that you have a niece that would be perfect for the position.

If it's possible, keep the interview. Even though there are things changing at your current job, you may find something you like better. Change can be a good thing. Then you won't appear unprofessional and you can tell them that after careful consideration, you have decided to remain with your current employer. This kind of keeps the door open for you to re-apply later if things don't get better at your job. Always keep your options open. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would call them personally or even better, show up in person to cancel your interview, then follow it up by a Thank You card, telling them your are grateful for the opportunity to be interviewed and thank them for their time. However, do to unforseen circumstances you must cancel the interview. Hope this helps.
Have a good day :)

You already answered it. You call up the person who you set up the interview with and say, "Thank you for the interest, but I have reconsidered my position and I will not be attending your interview." They haven't given you the position, so you can't say you won't take what you haven't been offered.

I work in Human Resources at my organization. All that you have to say is that you need to cancel your interview and thank them for the opportunity to work and grow there and to keep your application on file. They don't have to know why and there's no reason to tell them.

Just thank them for the opportunity, but you have decided to go another route at this time. Kindly ask them to keep your information on file in case anything changes.

You could try and tell them the truth, an employer would be happy to hear how loyal you are, and maybe tell them that you were just covering all of you options, be sure to do it quickly, so they can call on someone Else

I would tell them the truth. Just tell them you were looking for a job that you could advance but now currently have that opportunity where you are located....Tell them thank You for the opportunity and you apologize for any inconvenience.
