Do you take less sick days with a job that you don't get paid sick days than you do with a job that pays you?

When I had a job with paid sick days I'd take maybe 4 a year. But now that I have a job that doesn't pay for sick days I take 1 a year.

I used to give my assistants the day off if they got sick, of course somebody had to cover the shifts so that was usually me. This led to tremendous absenteeism due to 'sick' days, eventually I got tired of the nonsense and told them 'from now on you give yourself your sick days, If for any reason you are sick just call in and I'll cover your shift as usual. However, the very next day you have a scheduled day off you come in to work and cover the shift for me so that I can take MY day off"

Nobody ever called in sick again during the next three years I was at that store.

i have taken more sick days of recent with the kids, not really of my own, but i get paid for them. I dont know if i have been at a place where i didn't get paid for them. However, I know that after 4, our record gets reviewed, and sometimes they ask us to take a vacation day instead....

that brings the germs into the office.. GOSH!!!

I still take days off and not get paid...sometimes you just need them...I've already used my 4 sick days...it only stings on the paycheck for a little bit...

I get enough P.T.O. (paid time off) to take 4 vacations a year, but it never happens that way. I usualy take a few days off for sick days. If I didn't have it I would take less time off. In fact I'm using one of my sick days now. SHHHHHHHHHHH

Yes I take more if they are paid. I can't lose the money so I would go into work not well.
