The Indian ideal that one falls in love only once in a life-time is a good principle that will promote harmony in the community. However, it has no biological basis. Biologists have come up with many theories why a man and a woman become attrracted to one another but not necessarily to the same person.
Anyway, there are thousands of Indian girls and boys who get into an arranged marriage and stay together because the community expects them to. In the long run they may develop an affection like one has to a close relative.
Even in western countries, after the initial attraction wears off, couples stay together because they already have children and are afraid to make a new beginning.

Ever heard the song "Whats Love - but a second hand EMOTION". Well one can fall in LOVE many times over and over again because LOVE IS A BLESSING that GOD has bestowed upon all HUMAN-KIND and there is no harm as long as there is no hurt or pain to anyone. But YES the FIRST LOVE OF ONES LIFE is something that is UNFORGETTABLE and that IS ONLY ONE LOVE that often people refer as "We fall in love once in life"? which is your question too!

I would hope that all people have the blessing of loving someone other than family and themselves.
I do not think that love is limited to one per say, but if you love the right way then the one you love is the only one you need.

You mean ATLEAST once ?
Not always.
What about nuns/somemonks etc
Some don't know what is love [sheltered/orthodox life] and don't try it
Some people don't love before marriage/Then they love their wife/husband
Some ancient orders/some religions profess eternal bachelorness people brought up in these might consider love unacceptable

falling in love to some people is rather rare, and if it does not go well, they may find it hard to love again.and again there is the issue of emotional stability, thye fear of being hurt again makes it impposible for some to love again, but if non of these is present, loving is the easiest thing to do,no matter how many times you have done it before.

our hearts are big and strong enough to love many times throughout our lives. though we may find someone that we believe we love deeply and unconditionally with or without flaws but i also think our hearts can find true love in everyone if only you can first love yourself.
