why are teens so obsessed about those stupid shows? none of it is real, it's all scripted and it's not good television. why do you want to see those stupid shows about someone else's life? so you can feel sorry about yours? it's just plain stupid if you ask me.... knowing they have a better life than you would definetly stop me from watching the show. and for all of you that say," It's a really god show, you should go watch it too." or," it's just your opinion" i know it is but i want to know why?

I hate those shows too, i'd rather watch the Simpsons(there's no drama and it's funny). Lots of my friends obsess about those shows, there like "Did you watch Gilmore Girls last night?" I'm like yeah right! I h8 drama/ soap opera shows.

Of course The O.C. is scripted. It is a television show. Lots of people on tv have a better life than they average person so you would never watch tv if that was your feeling. If you feel sorry about your life because people on a fake show have it better than you, then you have problems. Plus, people on the O.C. have terrible lives so if you want to watch a show to feel better about yourself, then that is a good show to watch! Death, cheating, fights, abuse, arrests, not getting into college, getting grounded, failing, losing friends. Just because they have money does not mean their lives are better than yours.
The O.C. is a prime time drama like Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place and House and Grey's Anatomy. It is just mostly based for a younger audience. That doesn't make it dumb.
The whole point of television is that it is an escape from reality so you don't have to sit there and think of all of the crappy things going on in your life or obsess about yourself. You can just mindlessly enjoy ENTERTAINMENT.

let me start by saying that the O.C is not crappy at all. Just because you have a different choice than that, it doesn't mean that it is crappy. It just means that you preffer something else. Any so what if it isn't real, it is still somehow connected to real life. The whole point of movies is to teach while they are entertaining you at the same time. To tell the truth, the things they show in movies is so connceted to the real life that I take most of my lessons from it. So please don't call something crappy because what might be crappy to you might make other happy and educate them as well. Hope you look at it from a different point. God luck and GOD BLESS.

If I wanted to see the OC (where I used to live) I would not watch a show that is mostly filmed inLA! Sometimes I think the younger generation likes shows like that because it sort of gives them a base to act a certain way or WANT EVERYTHING-- with a-well, "THOSE GUYS HAVE IT" attitude. My children are college and preteen age and like you, think of the shows as stupid and boring (THANKS GOD!--and maybe good parenting) they also know that life doesn't drop money, education and homes (esp in So CAL) in your lap! I'm still trying to figure out to draw to "The Simple life" and if those girls are acting or really that stupid. I can actiually watch Heff's "Girls Next Door" easier-not that I do regularly. WHAT IS REALLY SCARY IS THAT THE OC-REALITY SHOW-SCREAMING OBSENTIES GROUP WITH A LOWER EDUCATION just might and probably is out populating the smart go getters-young and old as I know we are out there---somehow, the shows make them feel better? It is a question for the man on the hill (hermit) I guess!

First off, the OC isn't "reality tv" it's a show on TV. And secondly if you took the time to watch the first two seasons you would know it's a good show. I'll admit that the third season sucked becuase it was predicatable. Basically they're guilty pleasures. It's like a house fire. You're watching it with fascination wondering why you're watching this, yet you can't stop watching.

Lol you answered the question already.. They have no life of their own..They look to these people like thats how life should be..These shows are completely fake,, and don't show you anything about life.. I would rather spend time growing, then wasting time watching stupid tv shows.

Their lives revolve around false truths only found on corporate television. Their lives are so boring and uninteresting that watching someones fake life, is more enjoyable than their pathetic existence.

I have never seen these shows. TV sucks.
Getting moies from Netflix is much more enjoyable.
If I'm bored I prefer to go for a walk or read a book.

its wrong to call those programs " stupid " or " crappy " . You have the right not to like them, but doesn't give you the right to down play them. everyone has their own taste in programs and thats just the way it is. the world does not revolve around you, and your dislikes and likes.
my self, im not a fan of the show. but i dont go around calling them stupid.

Yeah, all those shows suck.
But I can't say much about it, seeing as I used to watch Knight Rider, The Dukes of Hazzard, and CHiPs- and thought they were all great.
