I mean heck, he has more hits than Howard and Beltran. More home runs than Beltran, a higher batting average, OBP, slugging, and runs scored than both and you know he'll get around 47 homeruns and 130 RBI. Did I mention he has less strikeouts and more walks as well. Pujols is a beast and by far the most clutch hitter in the National League. Oh finally, he has a pretty damn good glove as well. Should I even ask this question? Seriously! Hands down the MVP!!!

Wow! Your really bold about your pick for MVP. I agree that Pujols is the best statiscally and he makes his teammates better with his presences in the lineup. However, the Cardinals are freefalling and close to losing first place in the NL Central. If Pujols can lead this team and hold on to first place by the end of the season, then I would say he's the MVP, but here are my other NL MVP candidates that are better than Pujols:

1) Carlos Beltran, N.Y Mets - He's finally regaining that stroke that made him the best in baseball. Basically, he's also top 10 in HR, RBI, walks, and slugging (although his batting average is within his range). He's has postseason experience (like Pujols) with the Astros, where he excel the most, so here's motivation to him. As an added bonus, in which writer concentrates the most, they have the best record in the NL.

2) Ryan Howard, Philadelphia - Everybody knows that he need some playing time in order to get his pop and he's showing why Jim Thome is not welcome by Phily anymore. Currently the NL leader in HR and RBI, Howard continues to improve in every game, even killing balls from his achillies heel, the left-handers. He has tremondous power for a young kid, but this is not his year as an MVP, mainly because Philadelphia is trying to rebuild and they're going to rebuild around Howard for the future.

3) Alfonso Soriano, Washington - Who said he couldn't kill balls in the NL? His transition has been a smooth one, despite a position change, and still plays with the intensity that makes him the best all-around player in the league. It's ashame that his team are struggling, or else he would have been MVP.

4) Lance Berkman, Houston - The only other player to hit .300, .400+ OBP, .600+ SLG (the other is Pujols) while attributing to 30+ HR and 100+ RBI makes him a likeable candidate for MVP, but his team has been a major flop from both side of the ball and he's about the only player who can carry this team lately.

The problem with Beltran is he will split votes with David Wright. The Mets offense is loaded, but without Pujols, the Cardinals wouldn't be leading the NL central, they wouldn't even be in the wildcard race. The only other person with a real shot at the NL MVP is Lance Berkman, because he is the only person on that team with any offensive power, which he has plenty of. But Berkman's chances are entirely dependent on the Astros making the playoffs.

Howard can't win it, because his team won't come close to the playoffs. Beltran and Wright, however you feel for them, will sabotage each others chances.

And yes, Pujols is in line for a gold glove this year with the absense of Derrek Lee.

I dont think he should get it but I bet he will. The whole point of the MVP is exactly that............the person should be the most valuable player to their team's success. Albert is probably the best player in the National League but if you take him out of the Card's lineup then they still have other people that would pick up the slack.

The NL MVP should be Alfonso Soriano. If it wasnt for this guy the Nationals wouldn't even win games. And he has never played the outfield before this year. He is hands down the MVP.

Agree, Beltran doesnt deserve to even be mentioned with the way Pujols is hitting. I dont care if the Cards dont win the central, they've won it the last couple years. Pujols deserves the NL MVP, not Beltran!

Pujols is first in OBP, first in slugging, and will win a Gold Glove.

Assuming that the Cardinals don't somehow fall to last place, it's unimaginable that anyone else would even have a shot at MVP. I don't like the Cardinals, but this isn't even close.

I say Albert is the best nominee. I disagree he wins the award though. David Wright, in my beliefs, has been having a great season and his advantage over Pujo is he hasn't been hurt and his team is the title contendor in the NL. In honest opinion, I want Pujo to win it, he should get it, but if he goes to the DL for the 3rd time this season, David Wright or Howard or Beltran or whoever is going to take it. Here's luck to ya, Pujols.

I think that writers are not going to vote for Pujols because the Cardinals are not having a great year and Pujols was injured. I think it iwll go to Carlos Beltran

Unfortunately it's not always based on stats. If it were, then Pujols would be MVP hands down. However, I think it will be either Beltran or Reyes.

I don't think he should. I think Ryan howard of the phillies deserves the award. He has more HR and he plays on a much worse team than albert pujols.

If the Cardinals make the Playoffs then yes. If not look for Carlos Beltran to win it.
