OK you probably didn't expect this from a guy! And I'm NOT gay either! I hate ironing too! ICK!
You have to know how to iron properly. Most people don't!
Follow this plan for shirts-
Collar first,
Sleeve next
Body next.
You have to lay each section out flat, press well and move on. Time yourself, when you get good at it you can iron a man's shirt or blousen in about three minutes.
Pick the thing you like to iron the most first, not the hardest one.
Don't try to do it all at once either, just do 5 things or so and be happy.
And don't ever let that iron get gunk on it, or leave it sitting hot side down on the ironing board!
Play some music you love on the stereo while you iron - it passed the time faster.

Put music on and chill....I love doing the ironing!

Also a tip...If you put your washing outside bring it in before it is bone dry and shove it in the tumble drier for a litte while ...not too long. I'll take a lot of the creases out. I don't iron underwear or towels..the towels will be fluffed up as they have been in the tumble drier. Fold your clothes up rather than throwing them in a basket, this will also minimize creases. You can also buy fabric conditioner called easy iron will helps as well and of course a steam iron filled with water. Enjoy!

Yes -- sometimes it is agony but I do the following:

1. Turn on the radio and listen to the news
2. Lower the ironing board and sit in a folding chair while ironing
3. Do it early in the morning after awakening (when I have the most patience)
4. Do it within one or two days after they have been washed (so I don't have to look at it)
5. Do it in poor lighting so you don't see all the wrinkles (doesn't need to be perfect)

ME I hate ironing more than you do I hate it more than anyone on the planet and I've got to do it for 2 people.
There is no way to make it enjoyable and especially not in a heatwave. I sit in front of the telly with the ironing board at knee height, I do it with music on, nothing helps.
Don't iron anything unless you absolutely have to, not bedding or underwear or t-towels, its stupid and pointless.
When you get clothes out of the machine put them on hangers straight away so they dry less wrinkly.
Do the ironing every day so you've only got a couple of things to do not a pile.
Do it fast so it doesn't drag on then give yourself a large bar of chocolate and a cream bun. You deserve it.

Why are you ironing so much when most fabrics these days are simple wash n wear. Just hang them right up out of the dryer and they sould be good to go.

I don't hate ironing but then I only iron when it's really important. Helps to have a really good ironing board and iron.

The only time you will catch me ironing is with curtains for the windows. I prefer watching a movie, when doing the dastardly deed, over listening to music.

Here's the best part I use DOWNY Wrinkle Releaser on everything else. Put your shirt on a hanger, spray, tug at the wrinkles and let dry. It works I swear by it.

Haha, who still irons? I've only seen my mom/grandma iron once or twice in my life (I'm 18). I have yet to have the need to use an iron. I know how to, but I just don't have the need.

Here's a secret: Buy clothes that don't require ironing!

I hate ironing!

Either I take things to the dry cleaner and let them do it, its pretty cheap, about $1.25 an item. Or I'll toss the items in the dryer and pull them out as soon as they are done and hang them. My dryer has a cool down/wrinkle release cycle and does an ok job.

But if I have to do it at home, I'll do it while listening to music, watching tv, or talking on the phone (use a headset).

Oooh yes. It comes a close second to cleaning the toilet. I used to use an ironing service which was brilliant and not too expensive. It would be my one luxury!

I find that sitting down watching a good programme on TV helps pass the time.
