People have a various opinions when it comes to "terrorists". Some say that very, very few Muslims are terrorists.
What would that be 10%, 5%, 2%, 1%?
If there are 1.2 Billion Muslims,
1,200,000,000 * .01 = 12,000,000
This sounds like a whole bunch of terrorists to me.

But don't call them terrorists, call them shahids with a detonator to a car bomb or explosives taped to their body who are fighting in the cause of Allah to rid the world of fitnah and liberate the occupied lands.

Iran's President Ahmadinejad said in his interview with Mike Wallace that just viewed on CBS 60 Minutes, "You can love the people. You can love all people. You can talk with the people of the Middle East...Well, I don't despise people or individuals, I should say... that I despise heinous action."

Yes, we can love all people. We can despise their behavior. What can we do about that behavior?

From an Islamic perspective it is important to assess blame. Who is the aggressor. Who has committed murder. This determines who is "innocent". Islam forbids killing an "innocent" person. It does not forbid killing. On the contrary, Islam demands that true Muslims participate in jihad for the cause of Allah.

Radical Islam hides behind moderate Islam. It is important for Muslims to be perceived as basically peace-loving, law-abiding citizens when they live in non-Muslim countries. According to the doctrine of taqiyah to infiltrate and destroy non-Muslim countries the true nature of Islam is concealed.

Just read the Qur'an to find out about the importance of terror in Islam.

Muslims are forbidden to kill "innocents" according to the Quranic definition of innocent.

Qur'ān Surah Al-Mã´edah 5:32
...If someone kills a human being, unless as a penalty for murder, or unless it is to prevent the spread of corruption in the world, it is as if he has killed the entire humanity. (Munir Munshey trans.)

...anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people. ... (Khalifa trans.)

... whosoever killed a person - unless it be for killing a person or for creating disorder in the land - it shall be as if he killed all mankind... (Sher Ali trans.)

And also
Qur'ān Sura Banî Israel 17:33
And do not kill anyone. Allah has prohibited it, except when it is rightful and befitting (and corresponds to the crime).(Munir Munshey trans.)

And slay not the soul, the slaying of which Allah has forbidden, save for a just cause...(Sher Ali trans.)...

ISLAM DOES NOT CONSIDER NON-MUSLIMS TO BE INNOCENT.

Muslims have a SACRED DUTY to purge fitnah from the world.

Qur'ān Surah Al-Anfãl 8:39
So fight them (unbelievers) until there is no more fitnah (disbelief or worship of any god but Allah) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world) ... And fight with them until there is no more fitnah and religion should be ONLY for Allah

Allah commands deeds of terror by the believers against the unbelievers as the means of creating the emotion of terror in their hearts. The only reason needed for action is that "they resisted Allah and His Messenger". Such an approach to "conflict management" is nothing to be ashamed about according to Islamic understanding, but it is a basis for pride. According to Islam, it is one reason for the superiority of Muhammad over all other prophets.

It is EVERY Muslim's SACRED DUTY to fight in the jihad/qitl fee sybil Allah. (struggle/killing in the cause of Allah)

Qur'ān Surah al-Hujurat 49:15
Mumim (true Muslims) believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), and without doubt they strive in the cause of Allah (jihad fee Sybil Allah) with their WEALTH and their lives. Those! They are the sincere.

Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward, (Yusuf Ali trans.)

The verb qatala means to fight and kill.
Qur'ān Sura Barã´ah 9:29
Fight against the people of the book, those of them who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, who do not forbid that which Allah and His messenger have forbidden, and who do not follow the religion of truth (Islam). (Fight against them) till they (agree to) pay ‘jazia’ (the submission tribute) and accept an inferior status (with humiliation and submission to the government of Islam.) (Munir Munshey trans.)

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

There are terrorists all over the world, have been for decades and I'm sure will be for decades to come. Every time a government comes into power it makes decisions that affect it's own people as well as it's neighbours, because government's have armies and the "put-upon" don't the official line is they're fighting terrorists.

Don't be too quick to believe the press they aren't on your side, and the fall out from the multiple arrests WILL be the loss of another of our freedoms, taken by our glorious government in the name of safety.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for muslim communities in the UK, they are a close knit group who don't do much to help themselves appear to be patriotic citizens, but that doesn't make them terrorists or even terrorist sympathisers.
Consider this... if you were planning to blow up a plane would you tell you friends about your plans? So why would muslim's tell other muslim's?

Personally I think anything destructive done in the name of any religion only goes to prove how dispicable all religion is. Make the UK an entirely secular state, no religion of any kind allowed and the country would be a far better place.

But then I'd argue the world without religion couldn't possibly worse than the world we live in today.

At the moment, with all the recent events, it would seem that most terrorists are Muslim, but as stated in the other answers, this isn't 100% true.
In regards to it being a racist statement, its not saying that most Muslims are terrorists, its saying most terrorists are Muslim. These are two very different statements, so don't confuse them.
I would say a more accurate question is why are most terrorists linked to organised religions?

In the beginning of the 20th century when most of the boundaries in the mid east were being drawn, the common thought in the west was that Arabs and/or Moslems were not capable of governing themselves and that they therefore needed the protection and guidance of western countries, notably the UK. When I read about this subject five years ago I thought that was an awfully prejudiced (not to mention self-serving) line of thought. Now I'm not so sure. Current events more and more indicate that Muslims and Arabs have their own way of registering protests and most of these ways involve weapons. Not exactly a modern model of governance.

The current flap in the UK is about how the UK is responsible for Muslim terror because of their foreign policies. You really have to wonder at the total lack of common sense involved in making statements like that.

Terror is not acceptable. Period. In a democratic society that allows free speech you have channels to work through. If the channels you feel you HAVE to work through include blowing up subway trains, buses and airplanes, then please feel free to move back to the middle east where apparently these are the accepted means of communication between the governed and the governing.

The important question is why are Muslims becoming the target? Obviously the media do a good job, alluding the asian heritage every time they catch some foiled terrorist plot. Why would it be do you think, that mainly muslims, or people perhaps related to Muslims in the middle east would want to become terrorists in the first place??

From my point of view, i think Islam is under seige, from Christians, from the Jewish state (the US and Israel) have been occupying Arab land for over 30 years now, Hezbollah only grew out of the first Israeli attack on Lebanon, back the 80s and now another terrorist organisation will emerge, because people are being killed needlessly and its going on in our name now, as we speak, muslims are being murdered by bombs that have come through the UK from the states. That's why Muslim's are deciding to kil themselves and try and make a point about the genocide occuriong in their homelands!

The only reason we are at risk is because we have the blood stains on our hands.

Muslims take offense at how often people assume that these terrorists are anything like the average muslim, who doesn't belive in murder or suicde. It is a fundamentalist starnd of islam that called for suicide bombers and it is only in reaction to the extreme oppression of their brethren that they decide to committ such acts.

I hope that helps. good Luck

Ok first of all not all terrorists are Muslims.... the United States media is just focused on the Muslim community! The Oklahoma City bombing was by 2 white males! They were not Muslims. Also the most of the " Muslim Attacks" are by Shi'te Muslims. Not Sunni Muslims.

The problem isn't with Muslims, it is with Radical Islam which unfortunately is followed by many uneducated, low intelligent, swines (oink oink) who don't know any better and they follow some pyscho cleric who is using Islam as a tool to serve their anger issues and using them like walking barefoot on their face. We need to profile Muslims and start refusing entry for people from the Middle East into the US. Sad, but it's gotten to that point. Most Middle East People in the US are good people, but if they wanted to help, they could start pointing out who is preaching violence and radical Islamic behavior. They should all stand up against radical Islam and violence. Rather then just sit back and be quiet.

I suppose I could answer your question in a thousand different ways, dependant on the mood of the moment. At the moment I am tired of hearing about 'Muslim Terrorists'. I didn't ask for the problem, and I don't want to know. I already have enough things in my life to worry about.

I was brought up to be a tolerant individual, but find that the 21st century is fast eroding that behaviour. Any person that takes a life by forfeiting his own does so to make his masters life better. Islam does not teach suicide is acceptable, but rather that the taking of all life is a crime.

I do fear muslim terrorists because they are prepared to die, indeed they are intent on dying to perform a service to their mullahs, knowing their kith and kin will be cared for.

Take their kith and kin to the last man, woman and child, and remove the bloodline from the planet, and eventually there will be no more suicide bombers, for whom do you then make the planet a better place.

It is a radical solution, but one that the Samurai families learnt many years ago. Leave one orphan and he will seek revenge.

Islam will survive and thrive, but it should be also tolerant of the beliefs and religions of the remainder of the 21st century world.

Because muslims let the religion rule and control them and their lives. They never challenge their religion and adapt fresh and new ideas to enrich their religion. They tend to stick to a book wriiten in medieval age. Its one thing to respect the book but its another to blindly follow that book literally.
People from other religions challenge the conservative and illogical stuff in their religion and so they tend to be progressive and modern. The religion is just a small part of their lives to help them spiritually---thats it.
So their are problems and poor and exploited people amongst non-muslims too. But they do not use violence and suicide bombers to achieve their goals.
Looks like even the the moderate muslims are totally enveloped by Hizbollahs and mullahs or people with Taliban ideology.
I have not seen any Muslim challenging or confronting the wrong things existing in their societies, they tend to live with that and slowly the dark forces of radical Islam is surrounding their societies.
They would need quite a revolution to get out of that. I wish them good luck.

i dont like to stereotype people but i keep finding myself watching muslims to see what they r doing or if they are carrying a bag with them. once i was on a boat and a muslim lady asked me to watch her bag while she went to the loo, she took ages and i started to worry about what was in her bag, and i know others were too. also every time i get on a place i look to see if any muslims are on it.

and i feel really bad for doing this as i know that its only a minority of muslim people that do this and the rest are suffering the consequences, but when its all you hear in the news and its totally hyped up in the papers you cant help but think 'maybe...'.

i dont think that most terrorists are muslims, its just that when they decide to do something they do it right (so to speak) and it totally ecillispes (excuse spelling) all the other screwed up stuff that it happening out there.

also because it is a direct risk to ourselves we focus more on it and pay attention to it. this also counts with the police i think, they pick on muslims because of the fear of them that is created in our society. unfortunaltely they cant just go into objective mode when they change into their uniforms, hence the victimisation of muslims.

im not trying to excuse it, just explain it how i understand it.
