There is no rule. My congressman is a conservative Democrat. You can be anything you decide to be.

That is the media for you. You see, since the sixties, I have been a democrate. A Conservative democrate like JFK. You dont have many of those cause the party left the working man in the dust and is catering to the Liberal agenda and unions. Non of which have really in the 20th and 21st century, served the working man.
I know a fellow who is a Republican and so liberal, he would make Tedd Kennedy look conservative. He thinks people should be taxed double if they make over 75 grand a year. He wanted GM and Ford taxed $1,000.00 dollars for each vehicle it sold. I told him the sticker price would go up by that much so who was really paying that tax.
Anyway, liberals and conservatives and be any party.

No because with the current system.. the "man" with the most money wins.. and you know that a Libertarian, or Green Party candidate won't be able to come up with the loot.. You can vote any way that you like and it is true.. I am a registered republican although that will change the next times around, I'll be an independent and be voting Democrat as I don't believe any other vote will count. so yea unfortunately you're with em or against em.. which is a slippery slope for all of us.

That is the general DE FACTO allignment of the major political parties in the USA. Some would argue that the Dumbya Coup in the Republican Party has taken it to fascism or authoritarianism, betraying the principles that were considered "conservative", witness the mountainous budget deficit, and the excuses to cheat in elections without regard for the Constitution's preservation. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

Unfortunately, when you choose the other choices, the other choices are voted out of office. See what happened to Joe Lieberman? A great statesman, a Demo, supported Bush on Iraq. Bam - he's history.

Right now, No, because third party candidates have pretty much no chance of winning, unless we vote Democrat or republican, our vote is a waste... Which is unfortunate, but true.

we have MANY choices.
It will, however, take time to open up those possibilties.
You just dont hear it all the time on this site, which is 90% oneupsmanship.
For example,I'm actually a moderate overall, but as a pro-choice hertetic I love to defend the liberal underdog.

There are other parties out there. I vote independent. Just look for a party you can support.
