My 89 suzuki rm80 will pop sttart but it won't kickstart...why??

might be low on compression, pull off the pipe and check the cyclinder walls and piston w/ a flashlight if its marked up in there then you should get a new piston an rings, cylinder might even need replated with crome
piston...about $95
cylinder replate.....about $150-250

Could be a weak spark, try cleaning and regapping the plug or a new plug. Also carbon buildup in exhaust. Pull exhaust pipe at head and clean exhaust area. Is air cleaner good and clean? Remember fuel + air + spark + compression = start.

It needs a rebuild. When the compression gets low in a two stroke engine the engine will be very hard to start.

could be low compression and the kickstarter is just not enough

maybe to low of compression. maybe weak spark
