great white sharks grow to a maximum of 23 feet long, average size is 16-18 feet.

Killer whales grow up to 30 feet on average. So by size alone, killer whale comes up on top.

I've seen it a couple of times on Animal Planet. The shark was helpless, and it was a lone orca (probably with a group, but took on the shark all by itself). And it was a relatively small whale...

To the guys who said they've seen in it Jaws, oh please. It's the movies. Not everything in them is real.

Well let's look at the facts: a full grown killer whale can grow up to 30ft, while a great white shark supposedly canr each up to 23ft. So most likely it would be a killer whale, since they do have the intelligence. But if a killer whale goes up for air, the great white could bite a good chunk of the whale.

A killer whale. Great white sharks are a regular part of a killer whale's diet, as are many other species of sharks. So a killer whale would win, easy.

A killer whale...
Some whale watchers were able to watch a "battle" between them - and the killer won "by K.O. in round 1".

A killer whale tribe was just waiting for the female to get their babies, when one recognized the great white - and dived away. Some seconds later he came up fromm the deep with high-speed, broke the water surface and came out up to his fin - with the great white between his teeth...

But normally they don't fight each other, the killer's too big and the great white's not the normal food for killer whales. Only when a shark meets a killer tribe with females getting babies he risks his life...

the chance of a scrap is unlikely between two full adults.great whites are great killing machines, perhaps the best, but are all about self preservation.they often leave their prey wounded for an hour or so just to avoid a scratch.killer whales are ridiculously intelligent, but are a bit like a school bully.they will pick on the small but wont attack anything big unless they are in a large group.its not unusual to see 8 to 10 killers stalking the worlds largest animal(the blue whale) for hours, slowly drowning it. But to give you an answer if you put them in atank together a great white would prevail.

Well, in Jaws, the Great white killed a Killer whale by taking a big bite out of it...so I would go for the great white

Killer whales could keep going for longer than cold-blooded sharks. But in a short fight, a shark might win because killers are best at hunting in groups
