If you are trying to permanently ruin it without scratching it. I'm assuming so no one can listen to it, just try putting some clear finger nail polish on the underside of it. This should keep the laser from reading it.
You can also smear just about anything (make sure it is super sticky so it can't just be rubbed off) on a big enough section and it won't be read.

Heating it with a lighter or other source should do the trick. Do it for just long enough for the metal between the plastic layer to melt/disform. Then let it cool again and it should look fine, but won't read properly.

I recommend doing this to all of your Britney Spears CDs. ;)

well the benign way would be to pour som elight acid on the surface the dangerous fun way is to microwave it. But this is not recommended and could cause the microwave to explode
