High School Musical 2 (proposed title may change) is the sequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, filming is said to start in summer 2006 and has been previously stated to release in August 2007 part of Disney Channel's So Hot Summer! 2007 .Bill Borden, producer of High School Musical, said the film was originally planned as a three-part telefilm. All the stars from High School Musical have been confirmed[2] to return for the sequel, as well as the director and choreographer, Kenny Ortega.

I heard that it is supposed to be released early in 2007. Not sure if that is right, but it is the best I can give you. I think they will be making a third one too. I heard that the second is about a Vacation somewhere that they all go together.
I'm not positive about how much of this is right, I'm just giving you what I know.

Probably around the summer...I can't wait I heard Sharpay and Gabriella fight for Troy's heart!! Amazing!!
