In novels writer describes each and every moment so you will get the idea how to behave for particular moment.Because different languages have different expressions so don't try to convert your own language into english.

Read newspaper regularly
watch news channels daily
more over try to learn new words by finding its root u can get more words this is the best way
and feel free to talk in English with Ur friends and colleagues
and buy and have a deep study in good Thesaurus and Dictionary with CD
and books like "Word power made easy" - by Norman Louis will also help u more.
the one and only best way is reading reading and keep on reading

watch movies in English with English subtitles, read in English, listen to English music. While doing any of this, have a piece of paper close and write down the words you don't know, so you can look them up later.

Listen carefully some English NEWS channels apart from reading books and talking to people in English.The learning process starts with listening like the way it is with a baby.

Read and listen. You could also get movies in a language you understand best and watch it with english subtitles. Or the other way round - watch in english audio (should help your pronunciation too), with the language u understand as subtitles.

You've got to do 2 important things
1) READ A LOT !!!!!...anything in English..books, magazines, newspaper.
2) SPEAK IN English- The more you speak, the better your confidence will be.

Find someone who speaks English and talk to them as much as you can. The more you use the language the better you will get.

Hang around educated people who speak properly and encourage them to correct you. Read classic literature and quality publications, such as The New Yorker, The Economist, TIME magazine, etc.
