If you cover 1/2 of the feild deep then you are a Safety. You should line up about 7-10 yards off of the line of scrimmage. You and another Safety will be responsible for the whole feild, so draw an imaginary line down the center of the feild and cover that area.

What's your position? If you're a corner, it doesn't mater how the linebackers stack.

If you're an OLB, it depends on the scheme. You can simply face the receiver, or go inside, forcing him to the out if you want to go one-on-one. Or you can force him out if you have a free safety clogging the middle (if you're up against a west coast offense, for instance).

If you're a safety, you'll have to ask your coach. It may depend on how many receivers line up.

If you're a lineman or an ILB you probably won't be dropping that far back into coverage.

It all depends on the situation and what type of coverage your in. If it's loose you play back off the receiver about 8 yards, if it's front coverage you play up close on the receiver and bump him at the line if your a corner.

well if u cover 1/2 of the field u r a saftey...in which case u r running a cover 2 defense...in a normal base set u stand at 12 yards (atleast that is wut r program does) i hope that helps...of course if the O comes in twins or trips it all changes
