The UN has had guys in So. Lebanon for 20+ years. They have not done anything so far, why should they change now?

The UN has issued other resolutions that no one seems to pay any attention to so why should things change now. It is unfortunate, but until the UN is willing and able to actually enforce their resolutions they will essentially be irrelevant.

Legally per the article, the UN force of 15K is to prevent any further escalation and has the power to use force (Something very rare by UN). I think what will happen, is UN forces will act as aides forteh civilian population and Isreal will simply move in and then stay in. The UN will have to stick to the resolution which means while they may ask for another ceasefire, they can not declare any action against Isreal. In simple terms - Isreal will havea green light to use all the force they want and the International community can do nothing except point it's fingers at Hez and say "I told you so".

Probably pass another resolution and then just slap Hezbollah on the wrist and say no, no, no, that's not nice.
