Well, this advice is coming from a mom and a child care provider. First decide on what you charge and what times and days you are willing to work. Think about how many kids are willing to watch at one time. Think about what ages you are willing to watch. Get all that together first. Get a notebook or folder together to list your clients names and addresses and kid's names and ages. Get one of those babysitter lists or print one yourself that lists how the parents can be reached, where they went, kids' bedtimes, special interests and so forth. After all that get some postcards to pass out in your neighborhood. Be careful though---ask your parents if they feel comfortable with you advertising this way. You can leave a flyer at children's resale shops, libraries, daycares (since you will work nights not days), or churches.
Make sure you work it out with your parents about how far they will be willing to drive you for a job.
Consider babysitting for two families at once---this way the two sets of parents can go out together and only have to hire one babysitter. If the includes a large group of kids you may want to ask a friend for help and pay her.
You may want to set up times to meet the parents and kids first. Make sure you bring with you a notebook and dress nice. The more serious minded you are about this the more seriously they will take you. You may even want to jot down in your notebook the kids birthdays and send them cards. Ok, ok, that is a major sales tactic and you are just a kid...but hey, learn young. lol.

you've gotta babysit and build clientelle then, you get the parents to give you reccommendations as well as tell all of their friends about you. Im 23 and I work full time as a travel agent but I own my own babysitting business as well. Everyone uses me because I babysit the mayors kids, the director of homeland security, kids of famous lawyers. Just get out there and start somewhere and your business will do fine. You are still young yet though so you'll only get so far because some people wont trust their kid with a 14 year but dont let that discourage you.

Compile a resume of your experiences. Talk to the families for whom you've babysat, tell them what you're doing. Ask them to be your references. Ask them to help you out with word-of-mouth advertising.
On your resume, list your personal contact information: Name, Address, Email, Phone Number. List the dates and babysitting jobs you've done. List what school you attend. Use your guidance counselor or one of your teachers as an academic reference. List your skills, qualifications, and certifications. List your extracurricular activities, band, chorus, soccer, softball, etc. Keep the resume on-hand to give to prospective clients when you introduce yourself.
Place an ad in the local newspaper advertising your services. Make sure you have a way of screening your clients, have your parents or guidance counselor help you if you think you need help. Have a form for parents to fill out with their personal information, including their drivers' license number or social security number, make sure you do a background check. YOU need to be sure you will be SAFE, while at their homes!

well...you could make flyers and distribute them, or check with local preschools, etc. about setting something up there. I'm 14 too, and I babysit for lots of ppl, but my name is also on a babysitting list for my GS troop. Basically, they distribute the list of a bunch of girls and the ppl who need babysitters just call one of us on the list...also, get babysitter certified. I am, and ppl feel more comfortable.

Do your parents have friends who know you with young children? That's a really good place to start. You can babysit for them and if you do a good job, they will recommend you to their friends and then you are in business.

I'd recommend taking babysitting classes and see about places where you can get certified as a baby-sitter in your area. Then I'd create fliers with all of your information and qualifications and put them in the mailboxes in your area. Good luck!

Go to your local YWCA or YMCA and take a babysitting class. Also, take a CPR class.
Once you have done that then pout out flyers and talk to your neighbors.
