went to trade it in at jeweler and they said I had to double the price in order to trade in. For example if ring is worth $7,000 you have to spend a minimum $14,000 in order to get the credit.

Consignment hasn't worked been at the store for 9 months now.

You people are of no help. You are 100% right you do not know the circumstances. He turned into a drug addict and OWES ME way more than that ring is worth. He GAVE it to me to try to compensate for some of the money he owes me. Trust me if this were any other situation I would have given it back without question. The question is not what YOUR thoughts are on my situation, the question is where can you sell a diamond and still get a good price.
Thank you to ebay people. That is helpful.

Ebay might be your best bet, but before you do that, have it appraised by a jeweler so you know how much to start the bidding at. That way you will get the most money from it.

You can always sell it on eBay with a reasonable reserve price. I guess I would probably give the ring back, unless he gave it to me for my birthday or valentine's day or something.

By law he could sue you for the ring or any profits made from it. The ring can be considered a contract.

Or try Ebay

I don't know the circumstances , but unless the guy was way out of line you need to give him the ring back.

The decent thing to do would be to give the ring back. What kind of woman are you?
